The Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned of heavy monsoon rains in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, raising concerns about urban flooding and landslides in vulnerable areas.
According to details, Islamabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, and Faisalabad may face intense downpours and waterlogging in low-lying areas. Swat, Dir, Buner, Malakand, Shangla, Kohistan, Torghar, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Mardan, Khyber, Orakzai, Mohmand, and Chitral are at high risk of flash floods.
Urban flooding is likely in Peshawar, Mardan, Abbottabad, and Swat, whereas streams and river overflow are feared in Kohistan, Shangla, and Swabi. Landslides may block roads in mountainous areas. There is also a risk of glacial lake outburst flooding (GLOF) in northern regions.
The NDMA has alerted all relevant departments. Citizens are urged to check weather updates before travelling and avoid unnecessary movement in affected areas.
